Social Media in Web Developement

Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that social media has taken over the web the past few years. The rise of Facebook is just one example of how social media has taken the Internet by storm. Can 500 million users be wrong?

So in order to take your web presence into the social media realm, you need to not only take advantage of Facebook, but also use Twitter, YouTube and Flickr and any other social media site that might be prevalent to your customers.

Fortuntely, all of these sites encourge web developers to use their services by providing an application programming interface (API) so that anyone can connect to their services. So it was important for me to learn these API's and to use them in the sites I manage.

So now if Jacob at itsyourphoto post a new blog story. Automatically, the site will post the story on Twitter and Facebook with a link back to the blog story on itsyourphoto.com. I was able to produce the same feature on the ECSL site as well.

As these services grow, there will be more demand for organizations to be able to interact with their stakeholders on these platforms. API's are an effective tool make sure the content on your website is shared with your users on those platforms.

Telerik provides some fantastic controls to allow developers to enhance their web applications. Miktek has used Telerik controls for several years and they have made our web applications much more modern and accessible.
